Space Empires: Close Encounters (3rd print)

Space Empires: Close Encounters is the first expansion to Space Empires: 4X. Alien races meet up close as they encounter each other for the first time in ship boarding engagements and planetary invasions with different types of ground troops. The strengths and weaknesses of each alien empire are brought out with roughly 20 unique racial abilities. The expansion takes advantage of the streamlined nature of the game system to add more technology and cool sci-fi things in very simple ways. While it is designed to be used as a whole, the expansion is modular and players can choose to use only the parts that they like.

Also included in the expansion is an experience system so that your ship groups become more proficient over time. There is a big benefit if you can keep ships alive! The game gives more counters of each ship type to accommodate groups at different experience levels. Military academies in your empire can give your new groups a head start in accumulating experience.

Titans, super large ships beyond dreadnaught, make their appearance and can both carry fighters and destroy planets, but have liabilities too. As requested, fleet counters and a fleet display are in the box. In addition to racial advantages, there are also unique Alien Technologies that can be gained by conquering the non-player Alien planets. There are more technologies and some more money is added into the game because of the larger tech tree.

New scenarios are added for both 3 and 4 players. A new alien empire solitaire scenario is included as well as another solitaire scenario where a player can attempt to fight off an invading mass of Space Amoebas.

Gravel sprays out from under your tires and your car gives a sickening lurch as it begins to spin out. Clutch. Shift. Gas! Your engine roars and your car leaps into the next turn on a perfect line; you’re still in the race but you’ll have to watch for loose gravel on the track.

HEAT Rocky Roads introduces two new racing tracks. In the South Africa Grand Prix you will face treacherous gravel on the track, requiring careful management of your car and nerves of steel. Victory on the Germany track will hinge on how you deal with the fast pace of the newly built chicanes along the long straight away.

Take part in the 1966 Championship season and take advantage of a new innovation, the Sliding Skirt, to surprise your opponents and slipstream to victory!

Even Deeper Regrets

Deep Regrets is a game for 1-5 players that runs about 30 minutes per player.

An unfortunate fishing game about pulling progressively more horrifying things out of the ocean.

Decide what to eat, what to sell, what to mount and how many regrets you’re willing to carry, as you push yourself too far and spiral towards a thrilling conclusion in this strategic horror fishing game.

Gameplay in Even Deeper Regrets is the same as in the base game with one major exception: you can now choose to start each day Inland in addition to Sea and Port! Inland, you can fish from three River shoals or one Loch shoal, both of which have a higher risk/reward ratio than the Sea. 74 new fish and 25 dinks await inland!

You can also fish an entirely new sea of fish, with 117 brand-spanking new fish to discover. Mix them together with the base game fish or play with just the expansion fish, it’s up to you!

New polyps introduce a new mechanic: every polyp is worth more for each other polyp in play.

New items and equipment are available including a new supply type: pets! Pets sit faithfully by your side and offer a persistent benefit – but they can still be lost at sea, so try not to get attached.

Wingspan: Americas expansion

This fourth Wingspan expansion explores the birds of Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. This incredibly biodiverse and abundant region is home to more than 3,000 bird species, including the birds with the smallest and largest wingspans in the world (the Bee Hummingbird and Snowy Albatross, respectively).

Hummingbirds make up about one tenth of the bird species in Latin America, delighting birders with their quick movements and shimmering feathers. Designer Elizabeth Hargrave and artists Natalia Rojas, Ana Maria Martinez Jaramillo and Martha Clare highlight them in this expansion with a new type of card that adds a twist to gameplay.

Wingspan Americas’ components include 111 new bird cards plus 40 hummingbird cards (and their related boards and mats), 8 new goal cards, 5 double-sided goal tiles, and an Automa solo mode. Star Trek: Into the Unknown – Glory & Zeal Expansion
