They were raised in one of three ways, as members of a lord’s household, as mercenaries, or levied from a town or the countryside. Many of the men were armed, had some training, and came from the upper peasantry, the tenant farmers who would have at one time had prior experience of a battle.

In the far future, there are many suns that never set on the British Empire or at least on the Imperial sons and daughters that make up the Bulldogs team. One of the stars of the Death Fields Circuit, the Bulldogs is a combined team formed from abductees taken from the shadow of Isandlwana, the banks of the Somme, and the streets of Arnhem.

This box set includes enough parts to build 24 hard plastic soldiers that can be equipped with standard infantry rifles, light machine guns, assault rifles, plasma and flame weapons, grenade launchers, and pistols. Four headgear choices allow you to customize your forces.

German soldiers were assigned to thousands of non-combat roles in both conquered territories and within their own borders. Soldiers could be tasked with watching over prisoner of war camps and secret military facilities, as bodyguards for higher command, for run-of-the-mill guard duties and military police roles. In some cases they were taken from the best and brightest, but most were just average men in unexciting jobs. Sometimes, though, even the seemingly most boring role was not necessarily safe.

This box set includes enough parts to build 30 German sentries, officers, Feldengendarmes (military police), and guard dog handlers. Weapons and equipment include MP40 SMGs, Mauser rifles, Luger pistols, flashlights, and binoculars. Figures can be modeled checking papers, saluting, surrendering, and even smoking a quick cigarette. There are also 10 German Shepards!

“Serjeant” taken from the Latin “serviens” meaning to serve, were the lower-ranking warriors of a lord’s army. Whereas knights typically came from a noble background, the serjeants rose up through the ranks. Professional soldiers, they were well armed and armored and played a significant role in the armies of the time.

MASTERS OF WAR

Mounted serjeants, the backbone of medieval cavalry, were skilled warriors who rode alongside their knights into battle. Unlike their noble counterparts, these men earned their place through loyalty and martial prowess rather than birthright. Heavily armed and clad in mail or padded armor, they formed a vital component of a lord’s retinue, providing support in cavalry charges and skirmishes. As professional soldiers, they trained rigorously, maintaining discipline and effectiveness on the battlefield.

Though they lacked the prestige of knights, their role was indispensable on the battlefields of the 12th and 13th centuries, proving that courage and cold steel not just noble blood could win the day.

The reign of King John (1199-1217) was a tumultuous turning-point in the history of England. Decades of tension with the kings of France boiled over into conflict which saw Normandy, Brittany and Anjou lost. Meanwhile the fractious and restive rulers of Wales sought to exploit any sign of weakness and the kings of Scotland cast covetous eyes on Northumbria. At centre stage was King John, a figure whose distrusting nature made him as ungrateful to his allies as he was spiteful to his enemies. Resentment, hatred and fear pushed many of England’s barons into armed defiance, leading to the Magna Carta, an unprecedented compromise limiting royal power. When it was quashed by the Pope, civil war followed.

The Barons’ War: King John brings these turbulent times onto the tabletop. It updates the Feudal European retinue list and introduces six more factions to the game: the light and flexible Welsh, the diverse and colourful Scottish, the aggressive Poitevins and the proudly disciplined Flemish, as well as hard-bitten professional Mercenaries and the cunning and desperate Outlaws.

Inspired by the mobile commandos of the Boer War, the Special Air Service was formed by Britain after the fall of France in 1940. Volunteers underwent rigorous training covering weaponry, stealth, orienteering, air and amphibious assault, demolition, and a number of other critical skills to operate behind enemy lines. The Commandos operated extensively during World War 2 in multiple theaters.

“Shut your eyes and go in!” General Fritz Bayerlein’s exhortation to his Panzer Lehr troops. This elite unit was formed from veterans who participated in the fighting on the Eastern Front, North Africa, and Sicily and was outfitted with the latest equipment of the German war machine. Formed late in the war, they took part in some of the heaviest fighting in France in 1944 until their eventual surrender in April 1945 within Germany.

As Hitler’s war machine overran Europe, British soldiers were sent en masse to help defend France and also made a failed attempt to relieve Norway. German Blitzkrieg warfare was too much for the smattering of veterans and relatively green troops sent to Europe after hasty training. Outmaneuvered and outgunned they eventually fell back on the coast. Many were evacuated during the brave effort at Dunkirk but many also ended up as German POWs. 

This hard plastic box set will allow you to build both BEF and Home Guard troops (and useful for Imagi-Nations British civil wars too!) “They Shall Not Pass!” the French battlecry adopted after Verdun.

Russia entered World War One with the largest army in the world – 1.4 million under arms! Despite these vast numbers the Russians fared poorly against Germany and Austria-Hungary after initial successes. As the war dragged on, unrest in home led first to the February Revolution in early 1917 seeing the downfall of the Tsar. Russia was soon embroiled in a civil war that would culminate with the formation of the Soviet Union.

This hard plastic set allows you to build up to 35 Russian infantry equipped for World War One and suitable for the Russian Revolution and beyond. A selection of hat and helmet types allow you to model a variety of troop types including officers, Reds, Whites, and gas masked troops. Moisin Nagant rifles, officer pistols and sabres, and grenades give you a wide range of weaponry to choose from.

Allied troops gave the Maxim MG-08 this grim nickname to describe how German teams could sweep their bullets across the battlefield like a brush covering a wall. One was deadly, en masse they were a nightmare.

This hard plastic box set allows you to build up to 3 German MG-08 teams. You actually get 6 MG-08s in the box with half that can be built at a higher elevation. There are 9 crew figures.  Several arm options allow for a variety of poses. We have also included enough heads to outfit every figure with stahlhelm, feldmütze, pickelhaube, tschako, and schirmmütz.
