Konflikt ’47 DM-40 Molot Medium Walker

With the proliferation of United States and British Commonwealth two-legged walkers, the engineers of the Science Cities set out to replicate their successes with their own bipedal designs. One outcome was the DM-40 Molot, a development of the Kazak design, that would solve its forerunner’s attrition issues with especially thick armour. This necessitated a thickening of the legs to such an extent that the Molot lacks much in the way of manoeuvrability, relying instead on its thick front armour to absorb all but the highest velocity and calibre rounds. Whilst still not capable of going toe-to-toe with the heaviest Axis walkers, it is more than a foil to bipedal examples thanks to its formidable anti-tank gun. Its weapon mounts have also been designed so that it can be fitted with a number of armaments, which makes it a prime candidate to carry Zvukovoy weapons, and enable it to fulfil a number of battlefield roles.

To stem the aggression from Germany, Italy and Japan, Britain and her Commonwealth put huge numbers of men into uniform in WWII. Her small but professional army was swallowed up defending a worldwide Empire and soon her forces were shattered and in full retreat, culminating in crushing reverses at Dunkirk and in Singapore. However, Britain stoically declined to surrender and her army was reforged, fighting back against the might of the Axis powers. The Tommies, as they were known, learned new techniques on the field of battles and by war’s end were a highly effective fighting force having fought from the opening of hostilities in 1939 to the war’s end in 1945.

Containing no less than 36 highly customizable plastic infantry, supplemented by weapons teams, transports and a Churchill tank (itself highly customizable as you can build any one of seven variants) this boxed set gives you a highly effective and balanced starting force for a British or Canadian army.

Percival Medium Assault Walker

Once the United States Armed forces had received the M8 Grizzly medium walker in sufficient numbers, excess production was diverted to the Commonwealth under the lend-lease scheme. By this time, research into equipping Commonwealth vehicles, including walkers, with automated assistance systems was well underway. Rather than being pressed into service, the entire shipment was diverted to Bovington for study. The Commonwealth had become nervous that relying entirely on the US to provide walkers left it too dependent on a foreign supplier, particularly with the growing cracks in the two nations’ relationship. It was therefore urgent for the Commonwealth to be able to design and build its own examples. The result was the Percival, a distinct design from the Grizzly, owing to the need to incorporate the latest automated systems and a sufficient power plant for the Commonwealth’s new iteration of the Tesla cannon.

Galahad Armoured Infantry

The elite infantry organisations of the Commonwealth armed forces wear Galahad pattern heavy powered armour. In keeping with US Heavy Infantry doctrine and in contrast to the Axis Schwertruppen, Galahad units are kept small to allow for greater flexibility in deployment to the battlefield. The basic armament of a light machine gun for every soldier is felt to provide adequate firepower, although PRIAM ATRDs are equipped by squads operating where enemy armour is anticipated.

With the appearance of the Rifts, the efficacy of the Proletarian Hemotype serum has been greatly magnified. Taking advantage of this and stolen Axis research Soviet Science has created an astonishing triumph to counter the Axis’ dread Shreckwulfen; a new breed of soldier, the Ursus Infantry. Bonding humanity to the formidable Siberian Brown Bear has resulted in an augmented, monstrous soldier. Little is more symbolic of the Soviet Union’s bold embrace of the Rift than the Ursus. Deployed in small squads, they engage in brutal close-quarters combat, ripping their way through enemy lines and leaving carnage in their wake. Even the most advanced Rift-enhanced units are hard pressed to resist their physical and psychological challenge.

Some Ursus Squads are equipped with deadly mauls, which supplement their already considerable strength and render even the heaviest of enemy armour susceptible to their brutal attacks.

Mk II Heavy Automated Infantry

A new iteration of automated infantry now supports the more numerous, and vastly cheaper to produce, Mk Is. By necessity larger in order to house more sophisticated computational systems, they are also rendered capable of carrying far heavier armaments, such as specially designed automatic cannons. Capable of acting with more autonomy than the earlier designs, they have a limited operational independence. With their embedded short-range radio device, they are also able to transmit their computational data to other automatons within a limited range. Efforts were quickly made to upgrade the Mk I design with receivers. By staying within close proximity the MK IIs can relay their own calculations to the Mk Is, and thus improve their accuracy and ability to execute more complex commands.

Box contains 4 plastic miniatures with 2 Light Automatic Cannons, 2 Heavy Automatic Cannons, and 2 M21 Light Tesla Cannons. 2 of the bodies have Tesla capacitors and fittings for the power cable – these can be assembled with any of the weapons supplied.

Mk I Automated Infantry

Created from a fusion of Rift-tech advancements and early artificial intelligence principles, these man-shaped fighting machines are designed to bring both firepower and resilience to the battlefield. Multiple internal programme wheels allow them to support human forces in a variety of battlefield situations, operating effectively in any terrain or climate. While they lack the manoeuvrability of human soldiers their robust construction allows them to withstand considerable damage. Equipped with Medium or Heavy Machine Guns, they can engage enemies with significant firepower, although their limited computational power necessitates their instructions be simple, and operations swift. Most importantly, on the horror-haunted battlefields of this war these automatons are immune to fear and fatigue. While initially treated with distrust by regular soldiers, the ‘Tinheads’ have now earned their respect, especially when facing the enemy’s genetically altered monstrosities.

British MK IIC Automated Director

The advanced research into automated systems has yielded results at an entirely unexpected rate, such that production is hardly able to keep pace with new designs coming out of Bletchley Park. In less than a year from the first deployment of Mk I Automated Infantry in Belgium, entirely automated platoons are now increasingly independently organised and commanded by automated platoon commanders. These ‘Automated Directors’ are based on the Mk II Design, with improved computational and radio systems enabling them to distribute orders to other automated units over a wider radius. The advantages of fully automated platoons are numerous; the avoidance of British human casualties and immunity to ever more deleterious psychological effects on the battlefields amongst them. However, Automated Directors lack the imagination of human commanders, and are somewhat limited to enacting the tactics and orders pre-programmed into their systems prior to battle by dedicated British engineers.

The backbone of the Heer – the German Army – was its Grenadiers. These were the men in field grey and Stahlhelms who had conquered Western Europe, and brought the Soviet Union to the very brink. By the time the tide of the war began to turn in 1943, the survivors had become hard-bitten veterans, and the new replacements had to learn quickly. Well-equipped, well-trained, and led by experienced officers, Grenadier units remained dangerous opponents throughout the war.

This Starter Army allows you to field a fully legal German force for Bolt Action: Third Edition – entirely in plastic! With 36 infantry forming a Rifle Platoon, backed up by the mortar teams and machine guns of the Heavy Weapons Platoon, you’ve got a flexible core of troops ready for any tactical challenge. US M17 Tesla Cannon Team

With production of Rift technology Tesla cannons steadily increasing, the US Army looked at other ways of getting this battle-winning technology on the frontline. Engineers looked to place a full-sized cannon onto an anti-tank gun mount.

Trials proved successful with the weapon able to fire from its onboard generator, which could be recharged from the towing vehicle’s engine.

The towed Tesla cannon was initially introduced to armoured infantry regiments and crewed by men in heavy armour. This reduced the need for a gun-shield thus lightening the weight of the gun, and allowed the gun to deploy further forward into the thick of the battle.

German Heer weapon teams

Infantry weapons teams are a key component of any Bolt Action army, providing as they do great tactical flexibility for your force. Sniper teams, flamethrower teams and anti-tank teams are among the most prevalent, presenting your opponent with multiple challenges to overcome.

The Panzerschreck was a German development of the American bazooka, first encountered in North Africa, firing a large calibre shaped-charge rocket projectile. The back-blast from the weapon was so intense that early teams wore protective capes and masks – later a blast shield was fitted to the weapon giving it a distinctive appearance. The Panzerschreck and disposable anti-tank Panzerfaust had replaced the Panzerbüchse 39 anti-tank rifle by 1944.

During the battle of Stalingrad, Russian snipers took such a heavy toll upon the beleaguered Wehrmacht that the Germans began to train and equip their own marksmen to undertake a specialist role as snipers. A variety of rifles were used for sniping, including the standard KAR-98K and the semi-automatic Gewehr 43, all fitted with the high quality ZF39 telescopic sight, and equipped with precision-manufactured ammunition.

Flamethrowers – Flammenwerfer – were used through the war and were often employed against buildings or fortifications. During the latter part of the war, the Germans produced a lighter, smaller design that carried enough fuel for a single burst – effectively a one-shot flamethrower –the Eintossflammenwerfe. It is not known, however, whether this weapon was actually ever employed.

German Pak 40 Anti-Tank Gun

Bring up the anti-tank gun!

The PaK 40 served as Germany’s main anti-tank gun throughout the latter part of World War II. A powerful 75mm weapon, it remained effective against the majority of Allied tanks until the very end of the war, and was used in great numbers on both the Eastern and Western fronts. Particularly deadly when firing from concealed positions, it was also modified for service in a number of tanks and tank destroyers, becoming the basis for the main gun of both the StuG III and later-model Panzer IV.

As a Heavy Anti-tank Gun, it’s a great choice for taking out enemy armour in Bolt Action, and can also blast enemy infantry with surprisingly effective high explosive rounds. The crew are perfect for late-war Heer, and can also be painted as Waffen-SS. In addition, the crew sprue is compatible with many of our other German kits, allowing you to kitbash to your heart’s content!

Includes 1 order die plus decals for German Heer and Waffen SS.

The Jagdtiger, or Hunting Tiger, was the heaviest and most powerful German tank destroyer of World War II. Based on the Tiger II, the turret was replaced by a fixed casement mounting a huge 128mm Pak 44 anti-tank gun.

At 71 tons, the behemoth had nearly 10 inches of armour to the front of its casement housing, making it one of the most well protected tanks of the war. However, all this weight and protection came at the cost of reliability. Many roads and bridges simply couldn’t take its weight, and with only around 80 Jagdtigers reaching the front from late 1944, it could not have a decisive impact on the war.

In games of Bolt Action the King Tiger is a Super Heavy tank armed with a Super Heavy Anti-tank gun that does not suffer penetration penalties at long ranges, and can be included in Armoured Platoons.

This vehicle can also be used in games of Achtung Panzer!, the game of close-quarters tank-on-tank combat, its rules can be found in the Achtung Panzer! rulebook.

Get ready for close-quarters battle with this amazingly versatile starter army!

Perfect for fighting in the ruined cities of World War II, these hard-bitten veteran German troopers are packed with specialist equipment and ready to do battle!

This starter army gives you everything you need to field a battle-ready force of German veterans for games of Bolt Action. Based around a Rifle Platoon of two Heer Infantry squads, supported by an Anti-Tank Rifle team, which can take and hold objectives and provides a strong core to the army, it packs a significant punch with its specialist supporting platoons. It’s also accompanied by a Medic, whose intervention can keep your troops in the fight when the going gets tough.

The first of these is the Heavy Weapons Platoon, providing the force with strong anti-infantry firepower courtesy of a brace of Medium Machine Guns and a Medium Mortar. Ideal for creating defensive strongpoints and supporting your attacks, it’s a great counterpoint to the small but powerful Engineer Platoon. Made up of a pair of Pionier squads, each outfitted for short-range fighting and packing a lethal flamethrower, plus a separate Flamethrower Team, this platoon looks to get up close and personal, burning enemies out of their positions!

Finally, there’s the Armoured Platoon, bringing both wheels and tracks to the battlefield. The Sd.Kfz 223 command armoured car has excellent mobility, and leads the way for the powerful Panzer IV with its deadly and efficient short-barrelled howitzer!

With these four platoons, you get a great core force that can be used on the tabletop right away, and serve as the basis for a large and versatile collection. Ideal for an army themed around the bitter fighting at Stalingrad, this force can be built in numerous different ways to represent dozens of units, and is the perfect way to start your collection!

IS-2 Heavy Tank

With both heavy firepower and staying power, the IS-2 Heavy Tank is fantastic addition to any Soviet Armoured Platoon.

The Iosef Stalin tank was designed to replace the old KV heavy tank and was a far better-designed machine with thick frontal armour and a huge 122mm gun. Despite this, and the heavy tank classification given to it by the Russians, the IS-2 was only of comparable weight to the German Panther. The IS-2 was intended as a breakthrough tank, so it was given a weapon suitable for firing a powerful HE round to clear out enemy strongpoints. After some indecision, the Red Army settled on the same A19 gun-howitzer that was used by the Russian artillery.

The IS-2 Heavy Tank mounts a heavy anti-tank gun in its turret making it a prime candidate to fulfil an anti-tank role in your Bolt Action Soviet Armoured Platoon. With a high Damage Value of 10+, it should also prove a significant challenge for your opponent to repel.

The box also comes with a sprue of plastic Soviet infantry poised to represent a Tank Riders squad (Armies of the Soviet Union, page 35), a small five-man squad armed with SMGs that can appropriate the IS-2 as an impromptu transport!

Afrika Korps Kradschutzen motorcycle and sidecar

Key to the campaign waged in the Western Desert was mobility in order to cross the vast sandy deserts. As a result both sides relied heavily on tanks and transports. Amongst these were the BMW 75 and Zundapp motorcycles utilised by the Deutsche Afrika Korps and adding extra speed and manoeuvrability to your Afrika Korps force.

The riders are separate from the motorcycle so you can easily mix and match as you prefer. For instance, you could add the pillion rider to the back of the Motorcycle and sidecar combination. These models also utilise our Figure Head system so you have choose which heads to build them with as well as having freedom of positioning.

Pack contains 1 metal motorbike and sidecar with 2 metal riders.
