With the proliferation of United States and British Commonwealth two-legged walkers, the engineers of the Science Cities set out to replicate their successes with their own bipedal designs. One outcome was the DM-40 Molot, a development of the Kazak design, that would solve its forerunner’s attrition issues with especially thick armour. This necessitated a thickening of the legs to such an extent that the Molot lacks much in the way of manoeuvrability, relying instead on its thick front armour to absorb all but the highest velocity and calibre rounds. Whilst still not capable of going toe-to-toe with the heaviest Axis walkers, it is more than a foil to bipedal examples thanks to its formidable anti-tank gun. Its weapon mounts have also been designed so that it can be fitted with a number of armaments, which makes it a prime candidate to carry Zvukovoy weapons, and enable it to fulfil a number of battlefield roles.

Box contains one resin/Warlord Resin miniature, supplied with Soviet Bloc vehicle decal sheet.

Once the United States Armed forces had received the M8 Grizzly medium walker in sufficient numbers, excess production was diverted to the Commonwealth under the lend-lease scheme. By this time, research into equipping Commonwealth vehicles, including walkers, with automated assistance systems was well underway. Rather than being pressed into service, the entire shipment was diverted to Bovington for study. The Commonwealth had become nervous that relying entirely on the US to provide walkers left it too dependent on a foreign supplier, particularly with the growing cracks in the two nations’ relationship. It was therefore urgent for the Commonwealth to be able to design and build its own examples. The result was the Percival, a distinct design from the Grizzly, owing to the need to incorporate the latest automated systems and a sufficient power plant for the Commonwealth’s new iteration of the Tesla cannon.

Box contains one multipart resin and Warlord Resin Percival Medium Assault Walker, Vehicle Decal Sheet, MDF Base, and assembly guide.

Taking advantage of this and stolen Axis research Soviet Science has created an astonishing triumph to counter the Axis’ dread Shreckwulfen; a new breed of soldier, the Ursus Infantry. Bonding humanity to the formidable Siberian Brown Bear has resulted in an augmented, monstrous soldier. Little is more symbolic of the Soviet Union’s bold embrace of the Rift than the Ursus. Deployed in small squads, they engage in brutal close-quarters combat, ripping their way through enemy lines and leaving carnage in their wake. Even the most advanced Rift-enhanced units are hard pressed to resist their physical and psychological challenge.

A new iteration of automated infantry now supports the more numerous, and vastly cheaper to produce, Mk Is. By necessity larger in order to house more sophisticated computational systems, they are also rendered capable of carrying far heavier armaments, such as specially designed automatic cannons. Capable of acting with more autonomy than the earlier designs, they have a limited operational independence. With their embedded short-range radio device, they are also able to transmit their computational data to other automatons within a limited range. Efforts were quickly made to upgrade the Mk I design with receivers. By staying within close proximity the MK IIs can relay their own calculations to the Mk Is, and thus improve their accuracy and ability to execute more complex commands.

Box contains 4 plastic miniatures with 2 Light Automatic Cannons, 2 Heavy Automatic Cannons, and 2 M21 Light Tesla Cannons. 2 of the bodies have Tesla capacitors and fittings for the power cable – these can be assembled with any of the weapons supplied.

Created from a fusion of Rift-tech advancements and early artificial intelligence principles, these man-shaped fighting machines are designed to bring both firepower and resilience to the battlefield. Multiple internal programme wheels allow them to support human forces in a variety of battlefield situations, operating effectively in any terrain or climate. While they lack the manoeuvrability of human soldiers their robust construction allows them to withstand considerable damage. Equipped with Medium or Heavy Machine Guns, they can engage enemies with significant firepower, although their limited computational power necessitates their instructions be simple, and operations swift. Most importantly, on the horror-haunted battlefields of this war these automatons are immune to fear and fatigue. While initially treated with distrust by regular soldiers, the ‘Tinheads’ have now earned their respect, especially when facing the enemy’s genetically altered monstrosities.

The advanced research into automated systems has yielded results at an entirely unexpected rate, such that production is hardly able to keep pace with new designs coming out of Bletchley Park. In less than a year from the first deployment of Mk I Automated Infantry in Belgium, entirely automated platoons are now increasingly independently organised and commanded by automated platoon commanders. These ‘Automated Directors’ are based on the Mk II Design, with improved computational and radio systems enabling them to distribute orders to other automated units over a wider radius. The advantages of fully automated platoons are numerous; the avoidance of British human casualties and immunity to ever more deleterious psychological effects on the battlefields amongst them. However, Automated Directors lack the imagination of human commanders, and are somewhat limited to enacting the tactics and orders pre-programmed into their systems prior to battle by dedicated British engineers.

Box contains one plastic miniature, supplied with plastic base and assembly guide.

With production of Rift technology Tesla cannons steadily increasing, the US Army looked at other ways of getting this battle-winning technology on the frontline. Engineers looked to place a full-sized cannon onto an anti-tank gun mount.

Trials proved successful with the weapon able to fire from its onboard generator, which could be recharged from the towing vehicle’s engine.

The towed Tesla cannon was initially introduced to armoured infantry regiments and crewed by men in heavy armour. This reduced the need for a gun-shield thus lightening the weight of the gun, and allowed the gun to deploy further forward into the thick of the battle.

The Grizzly works well in most situations but when it comes to heavy defences, or when confronted by heavier tanks and walkers, you’ll be wanting some heavy rocket firepower…

In response, the versatility of the Grizzly’s fists was sacrificed for heavy firepower in the form of heavy rocket racks. The Bruin retains the functional 75mm gun but its primary role is to crack bunkers, gun emplacements, and to blast apart heavy tanks with its rockets.

When the scientists leading the Rift-tech Tesla weapons programme offered the US military a lighter and smaller version of the Tesla cannon that had been so successful on the Sherman chassis, the military leapt at the opportunity.

The addition of the Tesla cannon on the M8 gave recce units more firepower and an increased versatility against infantry whilst maintaining enough anti-tank capability to threaten their German counterparts such as the Spinne and Puma.

The lack of recoil in the Tesla Scout system meant very little work was needed on the chassis, although the weight of the batteries has shortened the lifespan of the vehicle’s suspension and gearbox; a worthwhile sacrifice from the crew’s perspective.

The Fallschirmjäger were famed from the beginning of WW2 for their involvement in capturing Belgium, the Netherlands and France. Though nearly decimated in courageous actions in Afrika, the Mediterranean, Italy, Northern Europe and Russia their early success have not been forgotten!

Now they are seen again across the battlefields of 1947; re-fitted with state-of-the-art Falcon armour, it is far more agile than its predecessor shaping more to the Fallschirmjagers needs. More expensive to produce but far more valuable with its effectiveness and more popular with the troops that use it.

In Konflikt ’47

Quick and resilient, these troops are ideal objective grabbers and shock-troops. With the ability to keep up with. and even outpace, most vehicles. Without the hindrance of terrain you can guarantee they can get to their target double-time. Equipped with assault rifles, they can pack-a-punch and wipe out those bothersome back-line units with ease.

As British research and development continue in the embryonic fields of automation and automotive intelligence, the combination of automated control units and armoured vehicles is a logical progression. With no requirement for crew comfort and with a greater tolerance to shock, noise and impact, an automated vehicle offers the opportunity to place larger weapon systems on relatively small, agile and hard to hit platforms.

The initial trials proved largely successful, with the combat potential of these vehicles deemed worth the occasional processing glitches and failures. With trials completed, the deployment of large numbers of automated carriers is the first large-scale field test of this concept.

Using the ubiquitous universal carrier as a base, two automated infantry units are hardwired into the vehicle, one as a driver and the other as a gunner. With any redundant limbs or body parts removed, the AI units take little space which allows a mounting of a twin auto-cannon weapon system. This firepower would be unworkable with a human crew due to the recoil, noise levels and cramped crew space, but works with automated crew perfectly.

The Thor panzermech is designed to enter the toughest urban environments and deal with entrenched infantry. Well armoured and armed it does its job far too well for most opponent’s liking.

Although it is often the Zeus Heavy Panzermech that claims much of the prestige associated with the German Heavy Panzermech programme, it is the Thor that led the way in both design and application of Rift-tech. First fielded alongside the Zeus in April 1946, the Thor was the Rift-tech inspired, original design that was later modified to create the Zeus. Developed to provide infantry in urban combat zones a form of mobile pillbox, the lessons identified in Stalingrad, Warsaw and Brussels were clearly a large part of the Thor’s design criteria.

Armoured all round to protect it from flanking infantry, the Thor carries a 150mm howitzer capable of reducing any building or strong point to rubble. Its 20mm autocannon provides some protection from infantry or light vehicles, but it expects accompanying panzer grenadiers to keep it safe from the enemy at close quarters. Able to navigate the rubble-strewn streets of an urban battlefield, the Thor pushes relentlessly forward, knocking out enemy positions one after another, its lack of speed rarely an issue in the close-quarter battles for which it was designed.

Despite the successes of the Kazak light walker, Soviet forces experienced significant losses from every encounter with Axis heavy Panzer walkers. A swift countermeasure was necessary. The OKMO design bureau at the Bolshevik Factory in Leningrad was assigned the task of developing Objekt 231. a heavy multi-legged walker chassis derived from the Axis’ Thor. Rather than opting for the Axis’ complex six-legged designs or the Allies’ technically challenging biped configurations, OKMO produced a more straightforward and reliable quadruped chassis. Originally conceived as a mobile bunker, the designers revisited a multi-turret concept from OKMO’s titanic 1930s T-35 tank.

In response to the Allied landings on the Italian soil, in September 1943, Mussolini was arrested and his government overthrown by Royalist forces loyal to King Victor Emmanuel III. Italy immediately sought an armistice with the Allies which was agreed in that same month. This led to a short period of confusion within the Italian armed forces with differing elements receiving contradictory briefings and orders that led to the Army in particular splintering into several factions.

With the country now divided and recognising their deficiencies in heavy armoured vehicles, the RSI and Kingdom of Italy have chosen divergent paths for the reconstruction of their armies. In the north, the fascist National Republican Army (Esercito Nazionale Repubblicano or ENR) have concentrated their mechanised forces into flying reinforcement columns, being designed to block any Allied breach in the defensive Gustav line. In the south, the Co-belligerent Italian Army (Esercito Cobelligerante Italiano or ECI) is forming more conventional armoured forces, utilising the Allied willingness to provided US and British tanks and walkers.

On both sides of the imposing Gustav Line, the more elite Italian formations are built around newly acquired Rift-tech equipment such as heavy armour and jump infantry.

Whilst the most fanatical soldiers within the National Republican Army (ENR) often find their way to the Legio Aquilla, many loyal soldiers choose a path into the Centurion Heavy Infantry battalions. The armour itself is more ornate than its German predecessor, with imagery reminiscent of ancient Rome. It is perhaps overly ornate for frontline combat, but it increases the protection afforded to its wearer through the addition of a ballistic shield.

Unlike the German version, the assault rifle is fixed into the arm of the wearer, harder to reload, but easier to use with the ballistic shield. Nevertheless, the toughness and resilience of the Centurion suits are at the pinnacle of any nation’s Rift tech capability and presents a stiff obstacle for any Allied assault.

Contains: 9 ENR men in heavy armour

Equipped with the proven Italian Berretta Model 38/44 SMG and the highly effective German MG42 LMG, a squad of Falco paracadutisti can lay down a torrent of fire at both close and longer ranges.

As the Allies pumped money and resources into the newly formed Italian forces, the more experienced Italian paratrooper formations demanded the best equipment the Allies could provide, including the Firefly jump packs. Each squad of these elite troops is well equipped with SMGs and the latest grenade launchers to come from the Rift-tech designers, a versatile support weapon that capitalises on the most recent advances in ammunition technology.

More recent operations have been designed to find weaknesses in the defensive lines of central Italy, using lightning-fast raids by Firefly Paracadutisti to try and identify weak spots for traditional forces to attack.

Models supplied unassembled and unpainted

The success of the Type 6 armed with the Light Shiboru Cannon led to the development of the Type 7. This improved on the previous design by incorporating an elongated chassis, leaving the crew less cramped, and a pair of front-mounted ‘claws’ equally useful for cutting through dense undergrowth as they are swatting away enemy infantry or even other light vehicles. An articulated tail purpose built for the Type 61 Light Shiboru Cannon was also fitted, affording the gunner much more control when gun laying. Given the Type 7’s even more apparent resemblance to an arachnid than its forerunner, and the addition of the tail sting, this inevitably resulted in the walker being named the Sasori (‘Scorpion’).

Contains one resin and Warlord Resin Walker.

While the Army has been slow in introducing assault rifles into its inventory, the Empire has surprised the world by being the first faction to supply mass-produced Rift weapons to its rank-and-file troops. Exploiting Axis technical and theoretical advances, Japanese scientists and engineers have created the Type 10 Shiboru rifle also known as the Compression gun.

So-called Type ‘A’ squads are beginning to field this weapon in large numbers. This gives Japanese infantry a significant longer-range punch, giving their officers new options beyond the traditional tactic of closing in to close assault the opponent.

Contains twelve plastic infantry with metal arms and weapons.
