Modern Win-A-Box
Battle it out in a competitive Modern Tournament to see who can win an in -stock Standard-Legal Play booster box! (the type of box is winner’s choice)

Time and Date:
Saturday 24th May.

10:30am  Registration – 11:00am Start

Expected finish – 4:00pm – 6:00pm depending on numbers and top cut.

Entry Fee:
£20 entry on the day, or £18 if you pay in advance, or £16 if you regularly attend our Modern Mondays!

Rounds:
4 50 minute rounds, with turns, of swiss with a top cut to 4 depending on numbers. If we get 4-8 players, then it’s 3 rounds, if we get 9-16 players then it’s 4 rounds, if we get 17-24 players then it’s 4 rounds with a top cut to 4, and then if its 25-32 players, then it’s 5 rounds with a top cut to 4.

There will be a break for lunch after the first round, and a 15 minute break after the 3 round and before the top cut. There’ll also be a 5 minute break between rounds for people to chat, get a drink or have a smoke break.

Prize Support (Based on 16 people attending):
1st: Standard Legal Play Booster Box of their choice + 2 Promo Packs

2nd: 6 Standard Legal Play Booster Packs of their choice + 2 Promo Packs

3rd-4th: 4 Standard Legal Play Booster Packs of their choice + 1 Promo Pack

5th-8th: 2 Standard Legal Play Booster Pack of their choice + 1 Promo Pack

Everyone else: 1 Standard Legal Play Booster Pack of their choice

Last Place: 1 Standard Legal Play Booster Pack of their choice + a random card from the promo box of shame

Prize Support is dependent on turnout!
If we get a greater turnout than 16, then 2nd-8th will get greater prize support, as well as a random raffle between 9th-last and an extra participation pack going from 9th-last. The same is true if we get less than 16. For example, if we get 12 people instead, people who place 9th-12th get a booster pack, 5th-8th gets 2 booster packs and a promo pack, 3rd-4th get 4 boosters and a promo, 2nd gets 6 boosters and 2 promo packs and first place gets 15 boosters and 3 promo packs.

We aim to put any profits from this event back into prize support as much as possible. 

Schedule:
10:30am – Registration

11:00am – Round 1 Swiss

12:00pm – Lunch

12:30pm – Round 2 Swiss

1:30pm – Round 3 Swiss

2:30pm – 15 Minute Break

2:45pm – Round 4 Swiss

3:45pm – If no top cut, then prizes will be distributed. If there is a top cut, then prizes for 5th-last will be distributed, as well as a 15 minute break for players who made the cut. If there is round 5, this is were round 5 will happen.

Venue Information:
We’re located within Bovis House, on Victoria Road in Hartlepool! To find us in Bovis House, go left as you enter the double doors and up the stairs to the first floor, then turn right. We’re the first doors you see on the right hand corridor! There’s also brightly coloured signs guiding you to us as well.

Parking:

Free parking is available in the car park outside behind Bovis House, but please double check in case this changes.

Public Transport:

The nearest train station is Hartlepool Train Station, which is a 10 minute walk away from us!

Bus:

Hartlepool -> Us :We’re right in the town centre, so any bus that stops within the town centre (The 36, 6, 7, 1) will stop within 5 minutes of us!

Darlington -> Us: Unfortunately there are no direct busses from Darlington to us, you’ll have to either take multiple buses or take the train.

Stockton -> Us: The 36 bus goes directly through Stockton and stops right outside us!

Middlesbrough -> Us: The 1 and the 36 stop just 2 minutes away from us!

Food and Drink:
We allow outside food and drink, and our partnered charity, Peeples Meeples, also provide cold drinks and snacks (sweets, chocolate, crisps) and are priced between 75p – £1.50, and all money from these go straight back into the charity.

There’s also the town centre which is a short walk away which has other shops and food establishments.

All that we ask if for you to be mindful of other people and their cards while you’re eating 🙂
