What’s the Disney Lorcana Casual League?
It’s the easiest way to enjoy some gentle competition, without having to spend lots of money on cards! Everyone is limited to one starter deck at the beginning of the league (of any of those we have available to buy), and this is all you can use for the first week.
Then, at the end of every other week, you get a booster pack. You can use cards from that booster to improve your deck, making it more competitive over time! You can only use the cards from that booster to improve your deck.
Although all the cards are yours, during the league you have to leave your deck with us and at the end you take everything away – this just makes sure there’s no shenanigans going on.
We give you a deck box to keep them safe too!
Starts Sunday 1st September 2024, 4pm, and will run for 8 weeks. You don’t need to attend all 8 weeks, and you can join in part way through. We will end by 6pm, to help with family routines.
How much is it?
To join you need to buy a starter deck from us – for however much that costs (£17-£18).
Then, every other week, it’ll cost £6, but you get a booster pack every week too.
Who is it for?
We’ve been running a Magic: The Gathering Casual League for about 8 years, and we find the people who enjoy it are:
- New to the game and just looking to practice in a fun, informal environment.
- People who would prefer not to spend lots of money on cards, but want to play in a gently competitive format.
- People who play competitively, but also want somewhere to play they can relax.
This is family friendly – all ages are welcome to join us! (Parents or a carer need to stay with anyone under 13)
What are the prizes?
Every week, everyone gets a booster for participating.
Here’s how you get the pin badges:
– When you have attended three out of eight league nights, you can choose a small pin badge.
– When you have attended five out of eight league nights, you can choose a large pin badge.
Here’s how you get promo cards:
– Every week, everyone will get one of the Shimmering Skies promos (which stocks last – around 120 promos in total).
– If you haven’t had a great week and lost all your matches, don’t worry! You get a dip in our mystery promo box full of old promos!
The league prize is designed to encourage fun and participation. Therefore, you get a league point for:
- Every week you play
- Every match you win
- A bonus point every week for ‘Most Disney’ – best dressed, most enthusiastic singing, best upholding Disney values of cooperation and teamwork – an entirely subjective bonus point given out by the organiser.
League prizes are a moderate level of store credit and are based on attendance (likely to be £20/£10/£5)
There will also be a league prize for the highest places under 13 year old.
